POSITION OVERVIEW: To issue tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to students and faculty, conduct inventory control, and conduct equipment service and repair.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain tools, parts, and equipment to ensure it is safe for use and operation.
2. Tag and report to the supervisor all tools and equipment that are inoperable, broken, or unsafe to use.
3. Issue tools, parts, and equipment to students and/or faculty in a professional manner.
4. Handle requisitions, repair orders, purchase orders, invoices, and over-the-counter sales money and correspondent receipt(s).
5. Control inventory of incoming and outgoing tools and equipment.
6. Order necessary parts as needed for vehicle/component repairs.
7. Keep and maintain the following:
a. Tool room and surrounding areas are clean and orderly at all times.
b. All gasoline containers, batteries, and carburetor dip cleaner out of the tool room area.
c. All dirty and oily rags in proper container(s).
d. Back support belts, face shields, and all other safety equipment in a safe operating condition.
e. All compressed air hoses, fittings, and nozzles in a safe operating condition. Do not use them if they are bulging, frayed or if the coupler is damaged.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School Diploma or higher.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Must be customer service-oriented.
- Must have a good working knowledge of tools, parts, supplies, and equipment used in the field.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, plus analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to meet or exceed the company’s attendance and punctuality standards.
- Ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently.
- Creativity and initiative.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must not be color blind
2. Must have good hearing
3. Must be able to lift or push up to 50 pounds
4. Must stand for an extended period of time.
5. Must be able to climb ladders.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
1. Fumes such as from soldering, welding, automotive exhaust, and/or air conditioning equipment.
2. Noise level which may, at times, require normal hearing protection in the form of earplugs.
3. Lubricating fluids, cleaning solvents, batteries, etc.
