Description
- To provide after-school supervision for students.
- During after-school care, workers will provide adequate time for older students to do homework.
- During after-school care, workers will provide supervised playtime outside (weather permitting) to provide a safe and positive environment.
- Workers must be able to stand for extended periods of time and walk around supervising playground and classroom activities. Workers must be able to carry at least up to 10 pounds, as an ice cooler and megaphone and radio are required for use. Some stooping, lifting, bending, crouching and reaching are required.
- Workers must be able to operate a two-way radio and speak clearly to communicate with the office staff and students.
- After-school workers may be asked to assist with the desk duties which require some basic computer skills and writing notes and reports. Some collection of money from parents and receipt writing may also occur.
- After-school care workers will take attendance at each session.
- Morning care workers may be asked to stand outside from 7 am to 7:40 to assure students arrive safely in morning car.
- After-school care workers will need to communicate with the supervisor as well as parents regarding any problems that may arise during after-school care hours.
- After-school care workers will be under the supervision of the director as well as the principal and will report any problems to the supervisor or principal.
- Hours for positions vary, but usually include weekday afternoons, mornings and extended summer hours.
- After-school care workers eligibility for employment is based on the principal's criteria and the 1-9 employment eligibility form.
