Description

SHINE Technologies is seeking an EHS Coordinator to lead risk assessment, incident analysis, training and program management for Research & Development and production activities at sites in Fitchburg. This role partners to proactively perform risk assessments and implement appropriate safety programs to enable critical research and development initiatives involving chemistry, high voltage, and particle accelerators. Additionally, the EHS Coordinator supports safety programs in place for production activities including machining, heavy assembly, and high voltage work. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities of the EHS Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform proactive risk assessment for Research and Development and Chemical Lab activities. 
  • Designs and implements appropriate safety programs for awareness and authorization trainings for new and novel R&D and lab activities. 
  • Lead near miss and accident investigations, perform thorough root cause analyses with focus on prevention and verification of effectiveness over time.
  • Maintain safety programs for both general awareness, training and authorization for R&D, production activities. 
  • Develop, schedule and budget for EH&S activities within their divisional responsibilities. 
  • Conduct frequent walk downs of SHINE facilities/workplaces to identify/assess and address potential workplace safety issues and ensures compliance with EHS and OSHA standards.
  • Prepare and conduct employee EHS training programs to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Demonstrates a deep, personal commitment to safety, preservation of the environment, and the health of our employees, guests and neighbors at all times.
  • Work with Radiation Safety Officer to implement radiation protection department policies, programs, and procedures as required.
  • This role supports the Radiation Safety team and environmental heath and safety team in Janesville facilities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
  • In partnership with HR, support compliance actions and reporting with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, WDNR, DOT, and other applicable agencies. Includes completion and submission of all related reports on time. 


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or safety related discipline preferred
  • OSHA certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards
  • Two years’ experience in safety related disciplines
  • Acute attention to detail and problem solving ability
  • Strong leadership and training ability

  

Eligibility for employment is conditioned on the applicant’s ability to qualify for access to information subject to U.S. Export Controls.
