Retreat Team Member
Description

The Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas is the Catholic Church in Northeast Kansas: Growing as Disciples of Jesus; Making Disciples for Jesus. Prairie Star Ranch is seeking to hire a full-time Retreat Team Member, which is responsible for a variety of programmatic and operational activities for Prairie Star Ranch, specifically targeted at evangelization, facilitation, and hospitality. This position is on-site, will average 37.5 hours per week and requires the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Host user groups and facilitate retreatants at Retreat facility with enthusiasm, professionalism, and Christian hospitality.
  • Follow all pre-event booking guidelines for hosting rental groups and facilitated retreats.
  • Coordinate with the Director of the Retreat Center for Catholic formation, weekly assignments, and evaluation.
  • Gather with the staff for team building and communal prayer.
  • Development of events and retreats that respond to the needs of Archdiocesan parishes and schools. Especially in the areas of Confirmation, Environmental Stewardship, Servant Leadership.
  • General maintenance and janitorial duties as required to optimize user groups comfort.
  • Food service duties as required to provide meals and snacks for user groups. 
  • Coordinate with Pastors, youth ministers, Catholic Schools, and DREs to meet needs of youth and families in the Archdiocese according to the Archbishop’s Pastoral Goals.
  • Continuous training in first aid, youth development, outdoor education, lifeguarding, and challenge course facilitation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving, time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Catholic Camp Ministry is preferred. 
  • Wilderness training, Challenge Course and Lifeguard training is preferred. 
  • Practicing Catholic, registered in a Catholic parish or faith community and must embrace in word and deed the Church’s teachings on faith and morals as articulated by the Church’s magisterium.
