Job Title: Temporary On Site Rental Support                                     Classification: Seasonal

Reports to: Camp Namanu Executive Director                                  Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non exempt

Worksite: Camp Namanu

Work Schedule: 3-5 days/week, typically between Thursday-Monday

Seasonal Role: 4/15/2024 – 11/1/2024

Compensation: $150/day

Organization Overview:

At Camp Fire Columbia, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to find and pursue their spark– a passion that inspires and drives them to set and achieve goals for their future. Founded in 1910, our comprehensive program starts with early intervention at the elementary level, bridges the learning gap for middle school, and helps students thrive and plan for bright futures during high school. During the school year, Camp Fire works in partnership with dozens of schools in the Metro Area. During the summer months, we offer summer camps in the Portland metro area and at our beautiful 552-acre camp, Camp Namanu, bordered by the vibrant Sandy River and presided over by century old trees. Our programs directly serve over 4,000 kids ages 5-18 each year across an nine-county area, including programming in Clackamas, Multnomah, Yamhill and the greater Portland metro region. Position Overview:

This position is primarily responsible for on-site duties associated with Camp Namanu Rentals such as tours, check-ins, check-outs, leading pre and post rental cleaning, host duties and responding to needs during rental stays, etc. Rentals include outdoor school, retreats, team building on ropes courses, alumni weekends, family reunions, weddings, and summer staff weekend hosting. This position is required to live on site part or full time during the high rental season. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  

1) This role will come in contact with students, campers, visitors, vendors and employees. Each of these persons may have visible and invisible qualities that makes that person unique. This includes race, gender, age, sexuality, ability, religion, national origin, gender identity, and other identities.        a) Ability to commit to learning and applying an equity lens to the delivery of rental programming and community engagement.

       b) Open to feedback and contributing to an environment of continual learning.

2) Hosts events at Camp Namanu such as weddings, corporate retreats, community rentals, and program focused weekends (craft weekends, day trips, and open houses).

       a) Manage site orientation and tours

       b) Manage pre and post-event set-up & cleaning, acts as onsite host during events, and works with additional staff as needed to        run programs such as the ropes course, archery, or lifeguarding.

3) Engages as a member of Camp Namanu staff and Camp Fire Columbia employee. 

       a) Supports the mission, purpose and leadership of Camp Fire and acts as an ambassador for Camp Namanu. 

       b) Serve as weekend host for summer seasonal staff and support Friday check-out and Sunday check-in. 

       c) Attends meetings and events as needed.

       d) Other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Acts to support any other contracted rental support staff if needed.

  • At least 21 years old.

  • Ability to interact with campers of varying age levels.
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and carry out instructions.
  • Ability to maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools.
  • High level of professionalism, creativity, energy, organization, self-motivation, empathy, and patience.

Housing: This position is required to live on-site while hosting events and during rentals. Temporary housing options may vary depending on season and facilities rented.  Housing may be shared depending on available options.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: This position requires a valid Oregon Food Handler’s card, First Aid & CPR certification, and a valid insurable Driver’s License. Association for Challenge Course Technology Level 2 Practitioner Certification and Certified Lifeguard or willingness to be certified are preferred.

The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and work in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
