What You’d Be Doing
As a Senior Structural Designer, you will have the opportunity to creatively solve complex problems,
collaborate with highly experienced team members across all engineering disciplines, and work on a
wide variety of challenging projects across many industries.
• Work with a structural engineer to develop designs for clients that range in a simple sketch to full,
ready to permit drawing packages.
• Develop plan and detail drawings for concrete foundations and steel buildings and supports.
• Incorporate vendor drawings to accurately display anchoring and mounting support, i.e pump bases,
motor supports and equipment mounting.
• Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and electrical staff to develop efficient designs and identify and
mitigate interferences between disciplines.
• Coordinate with clients and contractors.
• Travel will comprise approximately 10% of your time for site investigations, design reviews and
construction inspection and coordination.

What Makes You a Good Candidate
• 5+ years of experience including drafting and design on industrial projects.
• Previous experience must demonstrate an ability to start design of basic foundations and steel
framing drawings with minimal support from an engineer. You’ll need to show the ability to work
with an engineer on what is needed to complete the task without detailed redlines. You’ll need to
be able to create drawings through verbal communication, minimal sketches and your working
knowledge and experience.
• You will need to know and understand what is needed to create a complete drawing package that
includes all necessary information for construction to be completed efficiently.
• Knowledge of complex concrete foundations. I.e. Turn-down slabs, spread footings, piers, pits and
walls.
• Understand of reinforcing and its use in foundations.
• Knowledge of steel framing connections. i.e. moment connections, double-angle and shear
connections.
• Understanding of weld symbols.
• Understanding and reading shop steel drawings.
• Working knowledge of current industry codes and standards.
• 5+ years of experience with Autodesk AutoCAD and Navisworks is required.
• Experience with Hexagon CADWorx Structure or Autodesk Advanced Steel is considered a plus.
• Understanding of pre-engineered metal building systems (MBS) is considered a plus.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Computer skills need to include the MS Office Suite.
