Education Administrative Assistant
Description

The Akron Zoo is looking for an Education Administrative Assistant. Core responsibilities include scheduling and maintaining records for: grant funded programs, ZooMobile programs, On-Grounds Programs, Unique Experiences, and more. This person will also be responsible for helping to order supplies and track spending as needed for various expense budgets for grant-funded programs. This position is a salaried position and is required to work weekends and some evenings. The Education Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Education Mission Manager.


Essential job functions:

  • Schedule, coordinate, and maintain records for all Education Programs, using various computer software systems
  • Perform various office duties for the Education Department, i.e. helping with creating Purchase Orders and ordering supplies, copying as needed, etc.
  • Helping to contact program participants with evaluations as needed
  • Assisting with tracking supply spending for various budgets
Requirements

The candidate for this position should have a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years' experience as a reservations and sales agent, office management, professional communications, or customer service, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The individual should be comfortable using Microsoft Office programs and various other scheduling or booking software.


The Education Administrative Assistant should be a highly organized, outgoing, collaborative, strategic, independent, fun, creative, self-starter who is able to multi-task within a busy work environment. Must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), strong relationship building skills, and exceptional customer service skills.
