About the role:


The Staff Accountant will have responsibilities for performing the general ledger function, monthly and quarterly filings, monthly closings responsibilities as well as other duties.


Responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual processes, including preparation and review of entries for the month-end G/L closing process, and monthly reconciliation and review of G/L accounts.
  • Prepare and review monthly accrual entries.
  • Prepare portions of Call Report including sections related to delinquencies, charge/offs, and purchased loan pools.
  • Prepare Investment and Liquidity reports for monthly ALCO Meetings and Treasurer’s Report.
  • Prepare assigned G/L Account Reconciliations 
  • Ensure accuracy of all Balance Sheet and P & L G/L accounts.
  • Reconcile and maintain suspense/clearing G/L accounts.
  • Research and prepare monthly actual to budget variance analysis for income and expense accounts.
  • Maintain Oracle fixed asset module. 
  • Train accounting staff on various accounting duties and train other departments on control procedures. 
  • Regularly trouble shoot with COCC and other departments to solve problems and implement controls when adding new products.

Investments / Cash Management

· Prepare daily liquidity analysis

· Responsible for processing all incoming / outgoing wires.

· Initiate / Verify outgoing wires.


Accounts Payable 

· Responsible for performing all duties related to Accounts Payable.

· Perform vendor maintenance and maintain vendor relations.

· Ensure accounts payable is processed on a weekly basis.

· Ensure accuracy of invoices, proper authorization, and expense recognition.

· Maintaining proper files and documentation of paid invoices.

· Research discrepancies, missing information, and vendor inquiries on a timely fashion.


Other

· Assist branch managers with cash balancing issues as required.

· Play key role in setting up new products including setting up general ledger accounts and directing lending, operations and retail comply with control environment. 


Our ideal candidate looks like: 


Education/Experience: 


-At least 2-5 years in similar accounting role in a bank or credit union

-Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred

-advanced financial analysis experience

-ORACLE general ledger experience

-Fixed asset and accounts payable experience

-Ability to problem solve, analyze information, and demonstrate professionalism

-Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.

-Demonstrated comfort level with technology such as mobile services and online banking services is a plus.

-Effective time management skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and ability to prioritize multiple demands.
