J Camp at the Jewish Community Center seeks an experienced, energetic Song Leader with programming experience to lead large and small groups of children in J Camp song sessions. The Song Leader will bring an atmosphere of ruach (spirit) through music and programming throughout the week and at our Shabbat celebration.

Responsibilities include:

• Plan the musical curriculum for appropriate camps in partnership with the J Camp and Barney Goodman Director
• Lead song sessions and teach music to groups between 20 and 200 people
• Create song resource guide for use by campers throughout the summer

Dates: J Camp Staff Orientation – May 28-30, J Camp sessions - June 3 – August 2, 2024

Hours: Hours are flexible and could vary depending on candidate’s availability. 

Hours for song leading would preferably be Monday–Thursday, approximately 9 -11 a.m. and during Shabbat Celebration, Fridays 2:45-3:45 p.m. 

Position could be combined with a J Camp Counselor position, making the position a potentially up to 40 hours per week.

Salary: $15-17 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

• Must be age 16 or over
• Prefer prior experience as a song leader or camp counselor
• Prefer those who can play the guitar with the group
• Demonstrates leadership, enthusiasm, and creativity
