Description

Siskin Children’s Institute is seeking to fill a Patient Service Representative (PSR) position. This position will work as part of a team that supports medical and therapy services for children with developmental issues. The PSR must be able to work a flexible schedule and some extended hours.


Responsibilities include checking in patients for appointments, collecting patient co-pays, answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling and confirming appointments, and scanning and uploading documents into the EMR. The PSR must provide excellent customer service, assuring that patients are informed and well cared for while waiting for their appointment, creating a positive experience for patients.


Successful applicants will be proficient in multi-tasking, time management, organization and attention to detail, work well in a team environment and be flexible. Must possess independent problem solving and critical thinking abilities as well as strong interpersonal skills. Electronic Health Record experience a plus.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

Required: High School Diploma. Two or more years' experience in physicians practice, medical billing or health industry.

Preferred: Previous experience working in pediatric medical practice in billing office, precept office, front desk or other relevant experience. Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.) 

  • Greeting patients and the public/ checking patients in and out.\
  • Answering and screening telephone calls, making daily patient reminder calls, scheduling patient appointments and new intakes
  • Obtaining accurate patient demographic information and entering this information accurately into billing and scheduling system
  • Obtaining necessary signatures on patient forms and preparing these for scanning into electronic chart
  • Serving as the liaison between the patient and medical support staff 
  • Collecting copays and outstanding balances. Prepares daily deposits
  • Excels in service excellence and works collaboratively and positively with all members of the team
  • Coordinates with Insurance and billing department to ensure eligibility requirements are met prior to service
  • Ability to organize and complete high volume workload accurately and in a timely manner
  • Work with different personality types while establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, providers and the public
  • Maintain cash box
  •  Demonstrate support of change, assists in implementing change to processes and evaluates effectiveness
  • Assists in the distribution and collection of service excellence surveys
  • Assists in the scanning and faxing of documents into the electronic medical record
  • Works positively and collaboratively will all members of Center and Siskin Children’s Institute Management and staff
  • Other duties as assigned
