GENERAL SUMMARY


In this role, you will use your significant experience in marketing copywriting, strong writing and editing skills, and your deep understanding of target audience research to create compelling marketing content for promoting conference themes, formats, and sessions for three annual conferences and program-related marketing deliverables including website content, email campaigns, flyers, social media kits, and other collateral materials.  You will also provide marketing content for promoting NIC Academy educational offerings for Boot Camps, Certificate Programs, and Specialty Courses and related marketing deliverables including website content, email campaigns, flyers, social media kits, and collateral materials. You will accomplish all of this with your strong organizational, time management and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment that focuses on continuous improvement. You will use your excellent communication and collaboration skills as part of the marketing and creative teams to understand the company’s brand and messaging and will use data and analytics to measure effectiveness of copy. LOCATION: The position is located at the NIC Offices in Annapolis MD but can be hybrid within a two-hour driving or train commute of the office.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

  • Develop comprehensive marketing content plans simultaneously for multiple events.
  • Develop compelling content to drive conference attendance and NIC Academy registrations.
  • Collaborate with other teams, such as Events and NIC Academy, to create cohesive marketing materials.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in marketing copywriting.
  • Conduct market and customer research to understand the target audience and create relevant and engaging copy.
  • Edit and proofread marketing materials to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Measure and report on the success of marketing campaigns, using metrics such as website traffic, email opens, and conversions.
  • Identify and resolve challenges and issues as you contribute to the continuous improvement of the marketing copywriting process.
  • Attend industry events and conferences to build relationships and promote the company.
  • Provide training and support to team members on marketing copywriting best practices and tools.
  • Collaborate with external partners to develop website content. 
 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  
  • Commitment to NIC’s mission, values, and vision
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing copywriting or a related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio of writing samples
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools, such as Google Analytics
  • Ability to conduct market and customer research to create relevant and engaging copy
  • A desire to learn and grow in the marketing copywriting field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • At least 2 years’ experience working with C-suite volunteers. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving older adults and communities.
  • Experience in the senior housing and care industry.
  • Experience in creating and administering electronic surveys.
  • Demonstrated experience networking with LinkedIn.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS 
  • Less than 30 days per year
SALARY RANGE

Compensation will be competitive and reflect the qualifications, skills, and experience of the applicant. The range for base pay will be $125,000 to $150,000.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

Work is generally remote but when working in the NIC office environment there may be exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily or prolonged periods of time and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary. Physical requirements of this position include the following:

  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
