Senior Research Associate (In Vitro Biology)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Associate to join our BioAge metabolic research team, with a focus on obesity and cardiometabolic diseases.


The Role: You will play a role in our laboratory operations, focusing on advanced experimental execution, data analysis, and study design in molecular and cellular biology associated with metabolic disease. This advanced position involves leading initiatives for assay development and equipment maintenance. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Richmond, CA.


You: You have advanced skills in mammalian cell culture and extensive knowledge of molecular biology techniques and bioanalytical assays. You enjoy working on a small team of like minded scientists. Your motivation and organizational skills allow you to manage multiple studies simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead the development, optimization, and execution of sophisticated biochemical and cell-based assays.
  • Oversee the preparation and curation of biological samples, and culture of mammalian cell lines.
  • Expertise in qPCR, ELISA’s, western blot and flow cytometry.
  • Independently coordinate sample shipping/receiving and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors.
  • Drive innovation in laboratory workflow and operational procedures.
  • Ensure strict compliance with and improvement of lab protocols and SOPs.
  • Present detailed study results and data at internal scientific meetings.
  • Coordinate and support external research collaborations.
  • Provide expert experimental assistance and guidance to research teams.
  • Act as a mentor and potentially supervise junior laboratory staff.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced skills in mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays.
  • Extensive knowledge of molecular biology techniques and bioanalytical assays.
  • Expertise in managing laboratory operations and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and lead initiatives within a team.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of mentoring and supervising junior staff.
  • High diligence in documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Proficient in computer applications relevant to laboratory research.
  • Capable of multitasking in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in molecular and cellular biology, metabolic disease or related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry

The salary for this role is expected to be approximately $90,000 - $100,000 plus annual bonus for someone who meets all of the minimum qualifications as listed for the role, and may be adjusted accordingly for someone with more or less experience.
