Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit is growing! A well-established and leading law firm specializing in the representation of condominium and homeowner associations is seeking an experienced, full-time Legal Assistant, in our downtown Chicago office. The candidate will have the option to work from our Mundelein office as well. They will be responsible for providing administrative support to the legal team. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, shows close attention to detail, exceptional problem-solving skills, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The general business hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
This is a non-exempt position and is 100% in office.
The starting hourly rate for this role is $27.47, contingent upon level of experience. *If working from the Mundelein office – we will be moving to a new location in the Chicago suburbs in January 2025.
Duties/Responsibilities
· Coordinate appointments, including all correspondence and logistics necessary.
· Manage legal documentation and correspondence.
· Process the opening and closing of litigation files.
· Prepare Litigation Approval and New Client Intake forms.
· Prepare and submit close matter memo forms.
· Implement and improve upon administrative processes for more efficient workflow.
· Provide status updates on tasks performed to legal team.
· Profile document management database with all relevant documents, emails, etc.
· Organize and maintain client documentation in physical and electronic format.
· Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· 3+ years of practical experience as a legal assistant, preferred.
· Ability to focus on tasks at hand despite hectic environment.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Able to work in a fast-paced environment with challenging tasks and daily deadlines.
Competencies
· Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
· Must be able to type great than 50 wpm with greater than 90% accuracy.
· Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Must be comfortable working independently yet be a team player.
· Attention to detail and proofreading skills required.
· Experience with LexisNexis preferred.
