The Case Manager role functions in an advocacy capacity leading the development of comprehensive assessments and connection to wraparound services for high needs clients to overcome barriers on their pathway to secure employment. This position reports to the Mental Health Counselor. The ideal candidate is able to work out of our San Francisco HQ a minimum of 3 days a week. Some travel is required within the Bay Area.

 What You Will Do: 

  • Assess clients’ physical and mental wellness, needs, preferences and abilities and develop individually tailored comprehensive care and treatment plans
  • Coordinate service delivery of resources within CBO community that support stability, mental and physical wellbeing and personal development for clients with needs beyond the scope of Goodwill career services
  • Refer clients to community services and assistance necessary to remove barriers
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team with referral partners and employer engagement staff supporting job seekers’ success
  • Maintain proper notes and documentation in clients’ electronic record into data systems, and comply with HIPPA and standards of care guidelines 
  • Develop social histories with emphasis upon psycho-social factors affecting client’s care and/or ability to effectively engage in service delivery 
  • Create a step-by-step reentry care and wellness plan for clients that includes a mental health and/or substance use treatment plan with Goodwill’s staff
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on eligibility and application processes of programs and services delivered by federal, state and local agencies 
  • Prepare quarterly reports for Goodwill SF Bay funders and stakeholders including outcome data, success stories, and challenges
  • Represent Goodwill SF Bay’s participation in Workforce Development community initiatives including outreach and recruitment

What You Bring to The Role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Social Sciences; or, 2-3 years of case management experience with a workforce development organization, providing employment-related case management, career readiness, and employment retention and referral services
  • Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) certification (or industry equivalent) preferred
  • Coursera Career Coach and Navigator (or industry equivalent) preferred
  • Established community referral networks with workforce development initiatives and partners in the Bay Area 
  • Knowledge of education, training, and employment trends, labor market information and resources that provide information about job tasks, functions, salaries, requirements and future outlooks related to broad occupational fields and individual occupations
  • Knowledge of human behavior and their practical applications 
  • Prior experience in conducting vocational assessments and understanding transferable skills, aptitudes and abilities as well as the barriers that hinder employment
  • Critical thinking and problem solving to determine the best case plan for each client after assessing clients and analyzing case history
  • Active listening, to understand the needs of clients to create a plan of action
  • Organization skills to manage several different cases at once 
  • Team-orientated and the ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment
  • Understanding of the special employment needs of diverse groups
  • Knowledge of cultures, ethnicities, gender, sexual orientations and age groups other than one’s own, able to work effectively with others
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Salesforce, Google Apps
  • Growth mindset and a passion for helping people continuously improve

Donating and shopping at Goodwill is good for our planet and the local environment and helps Goodwill SF Bay divert >35 million of pounds from local landfills every year.
