About Toole Design

Toole Design is the leading planning, engineering, and landscape architecture firm specializing in multimodal transportation. Since our start in 2003 as a single office in Maryland, we have expanded throughout the United States and Canada. Our talented team of planners, landscape architects, and engineers is committed to delivering quality work that meets the needs of all people, regardless of age, ability, race, or gender. We have been named a "best firm to work for" and have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry.

Every project our employees deliver improves our communities. We are industry-leading experts, and we work hard to encourage a collaborative and team-oriented environment.

A Day in the Life of a Project Planner

Our planning group works on a wide range of projects, including active transportation plans, transit plans, multimodal corridor studies, street designs, Safe Routes to School (SRTS), curbside management and parking, transportation demand management, and micromobility plans. You will manage community engagement, as well as planning and design activities using the Safe System Approach. Help identify and deliver safety countermeasures, crash modification factors, and safety performance functions. Familiarity with GIS, road safety audits, crash analyses, speed management, equitable engagement practices and industry design stands will assist in your development of Vision Zero Action Plans, Local Roadway Safety Plans and other safety related initiatives.

We are known for our progressive approach to community engagement and partner collaborations. The planning group works closely with the design, engineering, landscape architecture, and urban design practices within the firm.

As a Project Planner you will manage projects, tasks and proposals, lead analyses, work directly with our clients, represent Toole Design in project and stakeholder meetings, pursue and win work, and reinforce our reputation as trusted experts. You’ll work with other planners, landscape architects, urban designers, and engineers to deliver a variety of exciting projects focused on making places and travel experiences better for everyone. You’ll be at the table with clients and colleagues from a variety of disciplines, integrating input from a broad range of stakeholders to create award-winning plans that lead directly to implementation.
