Driver/receptionist 

The driver/receptionist will provide safe, dependable transportation and assistance for residents of Ashley Woods. The receptionist portion of the job will provide clerical support and is responsible to answer telephones, greet guests, respond to residents' requests and assist in coordination of services to residents, assist in providing services to residents, families and guests. 

Pay Rate: $16.65/hourly

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist and transport residents to and from outside appointments safely, comfortably and in a timely fashion. Transport residents in ESLC vehicles, including but not limited to 14 passenger bus with  wheelchair lift.  Observe speed limits and safe driving practices 100% of the time.
  • Cooperate with staff, families and residents in setting up the weekly schedule and making subsequent adjustments when needed.
  • Keep accurate records of residents served.
  • Ensure that no resident is left unattended in the vehicle.
  • Maintains clean and tidy vehicle.
  • Maintains frequent contact with the front desk. Immediately reports any resident concerns. 
  • Assist residents boarding vehicle and escort them to and from buildings as necessary.
  • Perform routine pre-checks and maintain vehicles in good and clean condition.
  • Notify the Resident Services Manager and/or Executive Director immediately of any vehicle malfunctions and/or problems.
  • Exhibit, in conversations and actions, respect for residents and family members at all times.
  •  Be supportive to residents by offering directions and conversation as needed and assist as appropriate or directed.
  • Report any unresolved resident issues to supervisory staff.
  •  Perform snow removal on vehicle as necessary.
  • Pick up supplies, with company vehicle, as needed.
  • Carries groceries, parcels, etc. as needed.
  •  Answer all incoming calls, screen calls, record messages.
  • Assist staff in providing and coordinating services to residents, families, and guests.
  •  Receive and direct all visitors.
  • Maintain an orderly lobby area.
  • Receive and deliver all mail and packages.
  • Create work orders for maintenance. 
  • Provide word processing support to staff.
  •  Maintain program files as directed.
  • Complete reports as directed.
  • Create signs, posters and informational materials as directed.
  • Prepare correspondence as needed for operations.
  • Copy materials as requested.
  • Receive payment for housing and services.
  • Track resident charges for supplemental services.
  •  May be required to phone 911 or Central Station when handling emergencies. 
Requirements

  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must have a valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record for use of ESLC vehicle to conduct company business. 
  • Must have at least two years’ experience providing transportation to groups (i.e., older adults or youth) and clerical work experience. 
  •  A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to respond calmly to emergency situations and must be reliable. 
  • Must have the ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the general public.

Performing duties of this job requires prolonged sitting, occasional walking and standing. Must be able to occasionally lift loads of 30 pounds without assistance and the ability to sit, talk, and hear is required. Job requires sitting for prolonged periods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The majority of essential job duties are performed inside of a motor vehicle. Employee will be exposed to outdoor temperature fluctuations. 

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP: The work is performed within established guidelines and requires periodic supervision. The employee exercises some initiative and independent judgment to effectively perform the essential job duties of this position.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS: The employee has no direct responsibility for others. 

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be fully acquainted with all safety policies and procedures of Valley Manor. Takes an active role in all fire drills during the shift and/or emergencies for internal and external disasters as monitored by supervisor and incident manager. Maintain accurate and timely coordination with front desk. Must comply with facility in-service requirements.

Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the organization, residents, participants, family and staff, that may be encountered, either formally or informally, during the normal course of business. This includes medical and treatment records, financial and human resources information.
