Position Summary  

The Volunteer Coordinator supports the work of Blue Water Baltimore as it relates to stewarding and managing volunteers participating in our outreach, engagement, and educational efforts and events. As part of the Engagement Team, the Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with the Restoration, Water Quality and Development Teams to provide support by recruiting, coordinating, managing, tracking, and supporting volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator provides meaningful opportunities for BWB volunteers to support community events, community outreach, tree planting events, and water quality monitoring. This position plays a key role in building a volunteer stewardship and recognition program. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for communication, volunteer retention and data entry. This position will end on September 1, 2024.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Coordinate and support volunteer engagement related to Blue Water Baltimore’s Restoration, Water Quality and Development teams 
  • Collaborate with engagement coordinator to lead and support community outreach efforts during volunteer project planning, including attending community meetings and organizing door knocking campaigns 
  • Support volunteer trainings, advocacy training and educational events as they relate to volunteers 
  • Lead and support long-term volunteer retention efforts 
  • Collect, enter and update volunteer, outreach, and engagement event data in Salesforce  
  • Maintain and update community contacts, and event information 
  • Support tabling and engagement efforts at Blue Water Baltimore volunteer events  
  • Document events with photography, video, quotes and stories 
  • Support maintenance and organization of volunteer event supplies 
  • Prepare outreach materials to promote volunteer and advocacy events
Requirements

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) 

  • Experience (paid or volunteer) in one or more of the following: volunteer coordination, community outreach, education, advocacy, organizing,  
  • Enthusiasm for working with people and building relationships  
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities 
  • Passion for engagement and education 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or willingness to learn 
  • Familiarity with Wordpress or willingness to learn
