DS+CO is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated communications leader to join our team as a PR Manager. This candidate will possess a deep sense of curiosity, creativity, and passion for the PR profession and communications industry. In this role, the PR manager will provide strategic counsel and execution for clients, independently and with integrated teams, and develop and execute effective PR programs. 


The PR Manager will have a strong background in media relations and the PR landscape with proven experience and success securing media placements. Takes interest in and actively stays ahead of the curve on the latest PR trends to enhance their craft. Understands the importance of client relationships, works to foster them, and operates from a firm understanding of the client’s industry and vertical to produce PR campaigns that ladder up to the client’s business goals. 


 Responsibilities 

  • Develop strategic, integrated PR campaigns.
  • Create engaging content including but not limited to press releases, media alerts, key messages, and bylines.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media – journalists, editors, and other key contacts.
  • Pitch creative and compelling data-driven stories to secure coverage across various platforms. 
  • Organize press events.
  • Develop PR proposals and support new business pitching to contribute to PR service growth.
  • Develop monthly, quarterly, and annual PR measurement reports.
  • Travel as necessary to fulfill client objectives and requirements (limited travel expected). 
  • Coordinate projects through other departments by utilizing all agency processes and procedures.
  • Crisis and issues management experience providing communications counsel and plan development.
  • Influencer relations are preferred but not mandatory. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing social media content, community management, and reporting.
Requirements
  • Strong and proven track record of pitching and working with tier-one press. 
  • Excellent storyteller and writer. 
  • Proven ability to creatively find the pitch angle and collaborate with clients to draw out the news/story, and nuggets to pitch and pique the media’s interest.
  • Ability to navigate a variety of industry and vertical complexities with confidence.
  • Knowledge and ability around data-backed PR and utilizing research and insights to formulate a pitch. 
  • Believes in team success above all else.
  • Open-minded, patient, and optimistic.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A “get it done” no task too small attitude, with a genuine interest and enjoyment in collaboration.
  • Excellent organizational skills, capacity to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously, and communication with all levels of management.    
  • Social media experience on all platforms; understand and demonstrate the impact of social media on PR, social media best practices, social strategy, content, and community management.
  • Stay current on social media trends, tools, and technologies.
  • Experience in Barcelona Principles is preferred but not mandatory. DS+CO uses an evolved approach to PR reporting; however, understanding the fundamentals of Barcelona Principles is helpful for the PR counselor. Social media campaign measurement is a plus.

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. 
  • Minimum of four years of related experience in Public Relations, Marketing, or Advertising. 
  • Proficient in MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and industry software (Cision, or equivalent).
