Summary:

Have you ever seen a large public art piece and wondered how it got there? Do you have a love for the Arts in the community and want to gain hands-on experience in the field? Do you have a passion for public art administration, event planning, and project management? If so, then we are looking for you! Come join the Public Art Department at Scottsdale Arts as the Public Art intern.

· Compensation: $14.00/hour (Minimum of 140 hours per semester)

Here is what you will get to do:

The public art intern will work with the Scottsdale Public Art department and report to the Public Art Executive Assistant. This internship will support the entire Scottsdale Public Art team and, therefore, will offer opportunities to experience the various roles within the department. The role will include opportunities to demonstrate leadership, administrative skills, project management, art handling, exhibition installation, and event management over the course of the internship and will culminate with a final project. 

This internship will: 

· Assist and support project managers with event planning for Artwork Dedications and Exhibition Receptions.

· Assist and support executive assistant with Advisory Board-related duties, including preparing the agenda and written minutes and planning Advisory Board meetings once a month.

· Gather research and information for all departments.

· Assist the Lead Preparator with the installation of Civic Center Library Exhibitions and relocation of Portable Works objects.

· Provide general administrative support and prepare for upcoming projects. 

· Coordinate and complete a final project relevant to course studies and internship roles. 

Requirements

Here is what you will need to be successful:

1. Education: Must be a current college student or recent graduate within the last 12 months and over the age of 18. 

2. Experience: 6+ months experience in either public art, sculpture, fine art, art history, museum studies, project management, or arts administration at the collegiate or professional level or equivalent. 

3. Attributes:

· Strong verbal and written communication

· Effective organizational and research skills

· Proficient with Microsoft Office and experience with SharePoint, Asana, or other project management software.  

· Must be able to work one Wednesday a month.

· Possess knowledge of marketing and engagement techniques is a plus but not required.

4. Work Environment: Frequent sitting with regular periods of extended standing and walking. Use of hands to handle and reach with hands and arms. Ability to talk and hear, taste, and smell. Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs. 

5. Other requirements:

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record, which is acceptable to the organization’s insurance carrier.
