Description

Floyd|Snider is looking to add a Project Geologist with GIS experience to our collaborative team. We’re looking for someone who exemplifies our commitment to technical excellence, environmental responsibility, and customer service. 


The primary role is to execute and communicate key field and analytical activities for environmental investigation and remediation projects in support of client goals. You’ll use your knowledge of environmental geoscience for a range of activities on projects for municipal, port, state, and private clients. The role also provides opportunity to use your knowledge of spatial analysis to contribute to a team of GIS professionals, preparing high quality data visualization figures and maps, and supporting other GIS analyses. 

 

Here’s our list of must-haves:  

  • 3 - 7 years of applicable work experience 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology or applicable scientific discipline 
  • Maintain Geologist-in-Training (GIT) and working toward Licensed Geologist (LG) or Licensed Hydrogeologist (LHG) 
  • Professional field work experience, specifically with drilling oversight and contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater 
  • Acquire and maintain any certifications or licenses required for completion of job tasks (e.g.; HAZWOPER, CPR, TWIC, CESCL)  
  • Able to lift 30 lbs, push or pull 50 lbs, and use fine motor skills  
  • Able to perform significant walking, standing, and bending during field work  
  • Valid driver’s license

Pay and Benefits 

This is a full-time, permanent position. Geologists with 3 - 5 years of experience earn $80K - $90K annually and will have the title of Staff Environmental Geologist. Geologists with 6 - 7 years of experience will earn $90K - $97.5K annually and will have the title of Project Environmental Geologist. Floyd|Snider provides employees with a flexible work schedule that includes core hours 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. Most staff are expected to work onsite 2 – 3 days per week, depending on their distance from our office. 

Project work may sometimes require you to work more than your standard billable work week, but Floyd|Snider provides extra time off to recognize this effort. Regional travel is a small part of this role. You won’t typically go more than 3 hours away, and we’ll cover your expenses. 


The Details 

As a key member of project teams, your activities may include: 

  • Planning and implementing site investigations and developing conceptual site models 
  • Remedial design evaluation and construction oversight 
  • Analysis and presentation of environmental and spatial data 
  • Preparation of reports 
  • Coordination with project teams and communications with agencies and clients

Anything on this list would be an asset, but is not required:  

  • Strong comprehension of applicable regulations and guidance including Model Toxins Control Act (MTCA); Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); Sediment Management Standards (SMS); and others as applicable 
  • 1 – 5 years’ GIS experience and proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap
  • Proven cartographic or graphic design skills including the creative and effective use of color, symbology, and annotation 
  • Familiarity with relational database design systems, such as MS-Access and SQL server 
  • Experience using AutoCAD
