Advanced Practice Provider
Description

The APP is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) who functions as a medical provider in collaboration with an MD/DO according to state regulations. The APP provides primary care services within their scope of practice. The APP participates as a member of the Physician Housecalls/ Mobile Medical team by exemplifying the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Company and work collaboratively to achieve them. They must be cognizant of, and comply with, all Physician Housecalls policies and procedures, as well as pertinent state and federal regulations.


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Adheres to state regulations governing appropriate collaboration with MD/DO including but not limited to escalation of patient concerns, need for additional referrals or services and prescribing of schedule II medications.
  • Obtains health history and performs physical examinations
  • Diagnoses and counsels’ patients on a plan of care.
  • Prescribes medication in accordance with state statutes and professional practice guidelines and within their scope of practice and in compliance with state regulations for MD/DO collaboration.
  • Arranges referral for patients requiring services not available through Physician Housecalls/Mobile Medical
  • Reviews incoming reports (e.g., lab, x-ray, EKG) and follows-up in a timely manner
  • Performs minor procedures within scope of practice and in compliance with state regulations for MD/DO collaboration.
  • Complies with accepted Infection Control standards which includes personally utilizing universal precautions
  • Communicates verbally and in writing to the extent required by the position
  • Adheres to Physician Housecalls productivity standards and meets at least the minimum requirement.
  • Timely completion of documentation.
  • Assists in coordinating total patient care
  • Must exercise utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients, practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance with Company policies and HIPAA requirements
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Attends weekly training, monthly provider meetings, and any other meetings that require their attendance.
  • Communicates with team members and outside agencies with a focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • Works with interdisciplinary teams to provide a better process in patient care
  • Needs to be flexible based on organizational daily needs, regardless of schedule.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited post-secondary program
  • A current license for Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Oklahoma and/or Kansas
  • Board Certification
  • Current D.E.A. Certificate
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an APP is preferred
  • Insurability (malpractice)

Physical Requirement:

  • The ability to repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting to 50lbs
  • The ability to work in stressful conditions and working irregular hours
  • The ability to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids including COVID.
  • Travel is required, in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to have a certain comfort level for any setting or area. (e.g., patients’ home)
