Title: Childcare Director

Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 per year; commensurate with education, credentials & experience

Classification: Full Time; Exempt

Reports to: Director of Support Services

Supervisor Responsibilities: Yes

Location: CYC George E. Taylor Center at 3232 W. Division St. (Chicago, IL)

Schedule: 8:30a - 5:00p; Monday - Friday; schedule varies depending on program needs 


Purpose:  The Childcare Director plans, coordinates, implements and supervise site child development program in accordance with CYC Early Learning programs – Birth to 3, Head Start Performance Standards, City and State regulatory agencies. Recruit, identify and enroll eligible families for the Early Head Start/Prevention Initiative, Childcare Programs. 


Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, identify and enroll eligible families for the Head Start /Child Care Program.
  • Implement a child centered curriculum that promotes the Head Start Early Childhood Education standards.
  • Develop and implement staff professional development plan.
  • Provide a safe and clean environment for children and parents.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the health and nutrition program functional areas.
  • Screen and recommend candidates for employment.
  • Establish performance standards for Head Start staff and complete performance evaluations on a scheduled basis.
  • Monitor program activities to ensure conformance with established standards.
  • Develop and facilitate Program Governance and Parent Involvement Activities
  • Provide services to children with Disabilities
  • Ensure the Mental Health program is planned and delivered in accordance with performance standards

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (social service, education, etc.)
  • Fluency in English and Spanish languages
  • 2-3 years’ supervisory experience
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Excellent bilingual communication skills (Spanish/ English)
  • 18 credit hours in early childhood education
  • Directors Credential is a plus (willingness to develop a plan to obtain within 90 days)
