Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies.

Position Summary: 

Our Genetic Counseling Assistant Lead (GCA Lead) reports to the Director, Clinical Support and Analytics and other leadership. Some of your responsibilities and essential duties may include:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities of the Genetic Counseling Assistants include note preparation, records review, test ordering, and prior authorizations. As the GCA Lead, you will supervise these activities and will also have the responsibility to complete these tasks. 
  • Lead and motivate direct reports to support genetic counseling service delivery in an efficient and effective manner from initial onboarding to providing ongoing training through improvement initiatives and corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure proper equitable distribution of work across the team and addressing changes and issues in an efficient manner.
  • Coordinate staff work shifts and PTO coverage to ensure appropriate coverage at all times.
  • Work closely with the GCA Leaders to conduct hiring, staff evaluations, and proactively address potential issues within the team.
  • Provide ongoing assistance to develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Clinical Team.
  • Manage, monitor, and report daily operations and case volumes and metrics. Utilize this data to proactively identify potential issues. 
  • Act as a mentor and leader for all GCA staff members and communicate operational changes as needed.
  • Work in collaboration with the team to achieve performance goals & metrics to meet business needs. Help to establish dashboards and review metrics with GCA team members.
  • Assist team members with challenges and problem solving in real time to provide support for any concerns that need to be escalated.
  • Actively identify opportunities for time savings and quality improvements for more efficient and efficacious clinical care.
  • Perform case evaluations with staff and compile findings to assess patterns.
  • Have in-depth understanding of all GCA responsibilities and workflows to provide oversight of the team and assist with the daily tasks.
  • Be a versatile leader who thrives in fostering team cohesion amidst dynamic change, infusing positivity into every challenge and inspiring their team to adapt and excel together.  
  • Additional Responsibilities: 
  • Act with integrity to build trust in all interactions with the GCA team, patients, clinical providers, and all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as a liaison between outside physicians and Genome Medical care providers including coordination of referrals, collection of and distribution of medical records as needed.
  • Escalate patient issues as needed and demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency throughout case management.
  • Understands and ensures compliance with a HIPAA compliant environment to be able to deliver quality care as a customer advocate.

Hours:

  • This is a full-time, remote position with availability needed to work 11am-8pm EST/8am-5pm PST.
Requirements

and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years’ experience in a customer care position is required, preferably in healthcare. Prior experience as a GCA strongly preferred. 
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred. The ability to lead in a remote, team-centered environment is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft products, Google Suite, telemedicine platform, EHR, and online scheduling systems. Familiarity with pedigree software preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills to facilitate information, meet set metric expectations and execute accurate completion of all required procedures.
  • Ability to effectively manage various requests and questions while maintaining a customer centric approach. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player that builds trust and aspires to exceed performance expectations.
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written and listening) skills and able to collaboratively engage with all customers, patients, and teammates.
