Description

The Graduate Assistant (GA) Coach of Greenville University’s NCAA Division III Basketball program is an integral member of the Athletic Department at Greenville University. This individual must be committed to the Athletic Department mission to Foster Christian Character, Athletic Development, and Academic Achievement in a Christ-Centered Community. 

The GA works primarily with the head coach, assistant coach and student-athletes to ensure that each student-athlete and prospective student-athlete receives a quality experience. This opportunity requires the availability to work a variable schedule which may include nights and weekends. Hours will be determined by mutual agreement. It will take into account the needs of the basketball program as well as the academic needs of the GA. The GA will gain experience and learn skills necessary to be better equipped for a future career in coaching. 


Women’s Basketball Responsibilities:

Faith Integration is the heart of our program. This may include activities such as individual meetings with student/athletes, team bible studies, and mission trips. 

Under the supervision of the assistant coach, take primary responsibility for the Junior Varsity program. 

Assist in administering coaching responsibilities, including recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, travel and practice plans. 

Ability to coach, teach, and train student-athletes in skills and strategies to allow them to competitive at a high level. 

Assist the overall athletic department in game management/sports information and/or special events.



Requirements

- GA’s will apply, be accepted, and enroll in a Greenville University graduate programs.

- GA’s will maintain continuous enrollment in the degree program during employment.

- GA’s must maintain an accumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.0 


Skills and Experiences:

Bachelor’s degree

Experience within a collegiate athletic environment preferred and/or coaching experience.

Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently with a high level of confidentiality. 

Excellent communication skills including the ability to work with diverse student-athletes and groups.

Ability to multitask and prioritize projects. 

The GA will gain experience in recruiting, scheduling, game preparation, sport information, as well as assiting the overall athletic department in game management and special events.
