Position Summary

The IT Systems Administrator I will work with the IT team to design, document, implement, and support a broad range of technology platforms. This person will provide support to all Nexus Pharmaceuticals employees and partners ensuring smooth business operations. They will expand their technological expertise by learning and actively monitoring the expanding technology landscape. This person will work closely with the IT Lead team and will take work prioritization from the IT Director and/or the Database and Applications Lead.


Responsibilities:

  • Enterprise technology support responsibility across Lincolnshire and Vernon Hills facilities and any future facilities of Nexus Pharmaceuticals.
  • Define, document, and implement support and administration standards for all Nexus applications and technology solutions.
  • Generate and maintain business application Standard Operating Procedures and perform required system admin and maintenance activities.
  • Generate and maintain end user training documentation and/or training videos as needed.
  • Provide Level 1, 2, and 3 support to all Nexus Personnel for workstation, telecomm, application, and conference room technology issues.
  • Provide Level 1 and 2 support for all Nexus Infrastructure services.
  • Provide ongoing training to end users on procedures, protocols, and technology solutions.
  • Support the IT Strategy through active participation in application portfolio rationalization, software selection, and fiduciary discipline.
  • Manage and execute change control activities related to all technology solutions across Nexus. 
  • Support the installation, maintenance, qualification, validation and upgrade of new and existing business applications and solutions.
  • Assist in the development of validation documentation of computerized systems and support validation activities as per approved Validation plans and protocols.
  • Participate in investigations and root cause analysis exercises for the Information Technology department and company issues of non-compliance.
  • Manage employee and contractor building and system access and maintain the assignment of workstations to employees and/or departments.
  • Maintain Nexus infrastructure, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, internet, intranet, LAN’s, WAN’s and network services.
  • Perform application and server administration tasks (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure optimal systems health.


Requirements

Education or experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/information management preferred. An associate degree in a science or engineering related field or relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Experience and knowledge in application administration of custom, COTS, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Service desk or help desk experience in an R&D or manufacturing environment desired.
  • Knowledge of computer validation methodologies and technologies.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), GAMP5, and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations.
  • Knowledge of structured change management in a highly regulated environment desired.
  • Knowledge of ITIL Service Management best practices and application/usage.
  • Self-directed and motivated in prioritizing work and completion.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and comprehension).
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of Client Server environment, Windows 2008 and higher, SQL Server 2008 and higher, ERP systems, Quality systems, Lab systems, Analytics systems, etc.
  • Availability to support site operations during weekdays, weekends, holidays and after hours as needed.

Travel Requirements

Will be expected to travel between both Lincolnshire, Illinois and Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin locations.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Regular (0% - 25%) exertion including standing/walking for extended periods of time, lifting/carrying more than 15 and up to 25 pounds. At times low physical effort includes sitting, and operating computers or other small equipment.
