Job Summary 

The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee the Maintenance department's craftspeople and ensure that the department adheres to all safety policies and procedures. The Supervisor will also be responsible for tracking work progress and assignments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage employees, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped to perform the assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
  1. Schedule overtime, coordinate callouts, approve vacations, etc.
  2. Monitor and minimize maintenance over time so that it will not impact production.
  3. Set and manage expectations for all maintenance employees to ensure the job was completed correctly, the job site was clean, removable insulation was reinstalled, and all tools & equipment returned to their storage areas.
  • Develop and monitor a comprehensive inspection program to maintain mechanical integrity and compliance with all engineering/regulatory codes and internal policies.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for existing equipment based on manufacturer recommendations or best engineering practices.
  • Coordinate priorities with the Production Shift Supervisors for preventative maintenance, inspections, calibrations, repairs, revisions, and new construction.
  • Adjust scope, layout, and materials lists for projects and maintenance activities as required. Work with vendors to secure the materials and services as required.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and recommend how to minimize equipment failures and maintenance repairs.
  • Assist with repairs as needed.
  • Assist the maintenance department in maintaining an inventory of critical spare parts.
  1. Manage inventory and supply orders of items such as tools, hoses, and fittings.
  2. Specify and obtain quotes for tools, equipment, consumables, and necessary supplies for Technicians to complete job tasks.
  • Stay proficient in using the company maintenance management system (CMMS) and assist in planning and coordinating its utilization. The CMMS system will be used to document plant part inventories, equipment repair history, work order scheduling, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance. It will also be used to document approved vendors and generate purchase orders.
  • Respond to injuries and near misses appropriately as described by company policy. Monitor and manage Maintenance Department Safety Performance in areas to include:
  1. Recordables & Near-Misses
  2. Participation in Required Safety Meetings and Training
  3. Observe all safety policies and procedures.
  4. Immediately report any unsafe conditions
  • Monitor and manage the Maintenance Department's performance in Scheduled Maintenance vs. Reactive Maintenance, rework maintenance, and other KPls as determined by Management.
  • Maintain familiarity with the safe handling, environmental regulations, and emergency response for all material in your area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma/ GED required.
  • 7+ years of experience with maintenance experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in supervision/management.
  • Experience in chemical, petrochemical, refining, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence locally and across a broad organization.
  • Strong technical skills in maintenance and reliability engineering.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices, ASTM, API, NACE, and ASME.
