Description

 The Museum School of Avondale Estates seeks a qualified, motivated, and dynamic full-time After School program coordinator. The mission of The Museum School of Avondale Estates is to inspire students, teachers, and the community to collaborate to develop strong critical thinking, interpersonal, and academic skills in our students, which will prepare them for real-world success. 

As the founding coordinator of The Museum School’s first in-house after school program, the coordinator will play a substantial role in building the program, specifically spearheading the development, implementation, and management of the program. This role requires a visionary leader who can work autonomously, exhibiting strong initiative and creativity in establishing the program. The coordinator will have the freedom to innovate and customize programming to meet the diverse needs and interests of our students, ensuring an engaging and supportive environment. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape and build a program from the ground up, setting the stage for a lasting impact on the lives of our Museum School explorers.


 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive after school program curriculum, incorporating a range of activities such as academic enrichment, the arts, sports, STEM projects, and more.
  • Establish program policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, schools, and parents to promote program participation and support.
  • Manage program budget and resources effectively, seeking opportunities for growth and sustainability.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through ongoing and varied assessment and feedback, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between program stakeholders, communicating regularly to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Develop TMS-aligned safety- based processes and procedures to ensure student and staff safety and timely communication with families in the event of safety concerns
  • Collaborate with school leaders and colleagues to ensure intentional partnership in the areas of 
    • Academic and behavioral support for students
    • Family Communication 
    • Seamless transition from daily school operations to after school programming
  • Other duties as required


 


 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience within a school or child setting
  • Previous experience in program development and management, preferably in an educational or youth services setting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Demonstrated initiative and creativity in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Knowledge of best practices in after school programming and youth development.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and navigate challenges with resilience.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of unique and special needs 
  • Coursework or training in child development and/or related field 
  • Basic computer and technology skills.  
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures and populations
