Description
The Swedish Institute, College of Health Sciences is hiring a English Instructor, with experience in Oral Communication to teach in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
Some of the essential duties are as follows:
- Teach assigned courses in-person as scheduled in accordance with current department-approved course descriptions, course outlines, syllabi, and procedures.
- Assists, as appropriate, in the maintenance of instructional materials.
- Employs appropriate assessment techniques to measure student performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
- Communicates progress in the course to students and program administration in a timely manner and assists in the identification of students with academic or other needs and responds by utilizing an appropriate resource.
- Determines and submits students’ grades on a timely basis in accordance with established college policies and procedures.
- Provides feedback, as appropriate, regarding the general operations of the department, and the college.
- Attends faculty meetings as called by the President, Dean or Program Directors; and participates, as appropriate, on departmental committees.
- Familiar with CANVAS (Learning management system) as the main instructional tool for delivering curricula, assessments and instructional materials.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree from an academic institution accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Three (3) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience in Sonography or a closely related field.
- Active registration/credential from a nationally recognized sonography-credentialing agency (RDMS).
- Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to one or more of the concentration(s) offered (AB, OB/GYN).
- Current license, certification, or other credential required by local, state, and/or federal laws to work in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography field.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and computer skills.
