Circuit of The Americas (COTA) is a 365-entertainment destination for world-class events located in Austin, TX. The sports and entertainment portfolio at COTA is unmatched in the country with Formula 1 US Grand Prix, NASCAR and MotoGP attracting global fans during championship races on the famed Circuit and Live Nation producing over 30 headline concerts every year at the Germania Insurance Amphitheater. 


Job Description:

The internship in the Events + Hospitality department at COTA gives students the opportunity to learn more about the live events industry. Interns experience a true hands-on work environment while assisting staff members with all aspects and responsibilities that go into producing a successful event. This will be an unpaid, in-person internship with compensation for major events.


 Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Events + Hospitality team with the planning and execution of Facility Rentals, Karting Parties and Motorsport Events here at COTA
  • Attend and contribute to weekly department meetings
  • Assist with ordering, logging, and maintaining all incoming inventory for our department
  • During major races, you will be placed in hospitality roles and be responsible for assisting guests and providing them with a world-class experience
  • Assist with set-up and strike for all events on property 
  • Attend and help manage bike night, our weekly Tuesday night event that allows guests to cycle the track
  • Learn about event sales and sit in on calls/ site visits with facility and motorsport prospective clients


Requirements

Minimum 2-3 days a week in office (15-20hrs/ week.) with a flexible schedule and ability to work weekends/ evenings

  • Required Event Dates:
  • Bike Night – Every Tuesday evening from June-August
  • Foodie Fest – June 7th - 9th
  • Attention to detail and strong time management skills are a MUST
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Positively represent COTA while in front of or speaking to guests and clients

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and/ or use of hands to move up to 20 lbs
  • Must be able to endure seasonal temperatures as working conditions require some outdoor work

Work Environment:

  • Events may be in an outdoor setting with movement between temporary structures, buildings, and different terrains.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate however, during events the noise level may be loud.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
