Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN THIS POSITION

Ability to successfully pass EHA’s “journey level” test in one of the following building trades: electrical, plumbing, heating & ventilation, appliance repair and carpentry.

New hires must have four (4) years of proven, paid experience working in at least one of these trades in order to qualify to take the test.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE OF/SKILL IN:

  • Basic math skills;
  • Drywall and sheetrock repair
  • Electrical wire sizes and the loads they will allow;
  • Advanced plumbing skills

REQUIRED ABILITY TO:

  • Estimate labor and materials for assigned projects;
  • Convert or transition different types of plumbing pipe material;
  • Repair/Replace plumbing lines and fixtures;
  • Troubleshoot and repair appliances and building's electrical components and wiring;
  • Repair and replace concrete and drywall/sheetrock;
  • Basic lock and bolt repair/replace;
  • Pass Asbestos Awareness Class within 12 months of hire;
  • Isolate electrical shorts in wiring systems;
  • Understand, follow and give oral and written instructions in English;
  • Make decisions without supervision;
  • Provide leadership to subordinate employees;
  • Computer skills that includes use of a PC and an IOS or Windows Tablet.

REQUIRED PROFICIENCY IN USE OF:
Backhoe, Pro Press, Pipe (ABS, PVC, CPVC, copper, and PEX), Power tools (Pneumatic, Electric, and Battery Powered), Air blow gun/Air snake, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), Paint, Roofing material, Blowers, Hand tools, Plywood, Tractor, Bed Bug Heat Machine, Hand truck, Pressure washer, Truck Lift Gate, Drain snake, Key machine, Pumps, Van, Drill press, Ladders, Cell phone, Voltmeter, Drop cloth, Lumber, Respirator, IOS/Windows Tablet, Drywall, Masking tape, Rollers, PC

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be personally bondable for insurance purposes;
  • Valid Washington State Driver's license and good driving record;
  • Fair Housing Certification within 6 months of employment

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position is required to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and is subject to heavy and strenuous work. Worker may encounter undesirable pests.
