Description
As an entry-level Junior IT Specialist, your role is crucial in ensuring the smooth functioning of Snowbird Agility’s technical infrastructure. In this part-time position, you will work from the Cambridge, Maryland office for approximately 10 hours per week. This is a great entry-level experience, as you will be teamed with the IT Manager to guide, coach, and train every step of the way in learning new technologies and supporting them. You will learn and develop IT and cyber skills for every facet of an organization in your journey.
Let’s break down your responsibilities:
- Technical Support: You’ll be the go-to person for Snowbird Agility workers when they encounter technical issues. Whether it’s through chat or web calls, you’ll patiently listen to their concerns, gather relevant information, and troubleshoot problems.
- Issue Definition and Solution: During support interactions, you’ll analyze the reported issues, identify their root causes, and provide effective solutions. Clear communication and problem-solving skills will be essential.
- Software Updates: Keeping Snowbird Agility’s software up-to-date is vital for security and performance. You’ll play a role in ensuring that workers have access to the latest versions and features.
- Access Management: As new workers join the team, you’ll set up their access to various systems and tools. Conversely, when workers leave, you’ll promptly remove their access to maintain security.
- Communication: Effective communication with workers is key. You’ll notify them of any changes, updates, or important information related to the technical environment.
- File and Information Security: Safeguarding Snowbird Agility’s critical files and information is paramount. Your diligence will help prevent data breaches and ensure business continuity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with general and technical IT support to Snowbird’s staff either by phone or remote access, and when needed, diagnose, and troubleshoot technical issues
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees, including set up of equipment and installation of new technology for the company and for new hires
- Assist with orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
- Assist with diagnostics and assess the functionality and efficiency of systems
- Assist with implementing security measures
- Assist with installing and updating company software and hardware as needed
- Assist with performing data backups
- Assist with maintaining an asset management system through data entry, keeping it up to date for all assets and services through their life cycle
- Assist with completing a variety of IT security maintenance tasks, including:
- Email security
- Firewall security
- Cloud services security
- Multi-factor authentication
- Assist with cybersecurity auditing and compliance-related activities, including threat detection and response
- Assist with the cybersecurity of our computing assets, including all laptops (including remote maintenance)
- Assist with creating and updating IT documentation
Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent; college-level course work in computer science or related field; Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve multiple issues
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable in a diverse and fast-paced environment
- Goal-oriented, organized team player
- Up-to-date knowledge of new systems, information, software, and upgrades
Salary Description
$15.00/hour starting with potential for growth
