Summary:

The Greenacres Environment Education Department offers a paid internship program for one year, from August 2024 to August 2025. Each year we will have a cohort of interns who will work alongside the Greenacres Environment Educators to assist in all aspects of school field trips, after-school programs and summer camps including providing hands-on experiences in nature to local students and delivering high quality programming. Our ideal candidate will be passionate about the Mission of Greenacres and our values while seeking to advance their knowledge as an Environment Educator (EE) Intern. Interns will be mentored and trained on environment interpretation skills as well as natural history knowledge and career prep in a non-profit. The EE Intern role is a position that will be based at one of our sites in Indian Hill or Milford. This position requires flexibility with schedules, programming, and occasional traveling between education sites in Milford, Indian Hill, Lewis Township, OH, and Oldenburg, IN.

Requirements
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Science or Education.
  • Passion for working with youth using hands-on activities in small-groups in an outdoor setting.
  • Strong interest in gaining practical skills in non-traditional education and environment interpretation.
  • Ability to move and work in a natural environment (i.e. field, forest, streams) under various weather conditions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to working independently as well as within a functional team and collaborative culture.
  • Willingness to reach across education disciplines: Environment, Arts, Equine and Agriculture, to learn how our non-profit functions.
  • Prepared to work in a professional environment, complete tasks carefully and in a timely manner. Interns must be prompt, responsible and focused.
  • Presentation to staff of their teaching philosophy at the end of their internship.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week which would include occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to successfully pass a post-offer pre-employment drug test and fingerprint FBI background screen.
  • Ability to work with both internal and external partners with the same or very different backgrounds to ensure that all who visit Greenacres get the highest quality experience that addresses their needs.

Salary Description
$18 - $20 an hour
