Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated professional with a proven track record of success to join our team. This full-time position serves as a Patent Support Specialist in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane), a world class Naval Installation providing technical solutions to the Department of Defense. The Patent Support Specialist will adapt existing analytical methods and techniques to specific issues and develop new approaches to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of program operations. They will analyze and evaluate, on a quantitative or qualitative basis, the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the patent program. They will assist with preparation of routine patent correspondence and prepare and proof patent forms, applications and documents, and electronic files with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The Patent Support Specialist will review incoming correspondence from the USPTO and all foreign patent offices and agents, and timely docket all due dates. They will maintain patent docket and follow up with all inventors and patent attorneys in advance to ensure that all deadlines are timely met. They will correspond with outside patent counsel if specific expertise is needed that is not covered internally and will monitor the USPTO Deposit Account and replenish as needed. They will also assist with administrative tasks related to patent royalties and maintenance and will coordinate the Patent Externship program with various universities. They will also assist with conducting research and patent screening searches as directed by Patent Counsel. 

Requirements

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a business or technical field.

· Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in engineering/science management, operations research analysis, and/or financial/cost analysis. 

· Minimum of 3 years of specialized experience in Patent Prosecution and/or legal support.

· Professional experience in U.S. Navy programs preferred.

· Active DoD Secret level security clearance.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 

· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.

· Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within teams. 

· Self-starter committed to identifying and solving problems and meeting deadlines.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power-Point, and Teams.
