Description
Dishwasher/prep cook is responsible for cleaning and storage of dishes, equipment and smallware’s for the kitchen. They are assigned prep work for the culinary team as needed. They remove trash and assist with the kitchen storage organization. They prepare key ingredients following a prep sheet and standardized recipes. They clean the kitchen and prep areas, making sure the kitchen is appropriately stocked.
Requirements
- Clean and store dishes and equipment.
- Follow prep list and standardized recipes.
- Prepare and cook food items according to recipes and established standards.
- Ensure all ingredients are properly stored, prepared, and used in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient food service operations during peak hours while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and tools in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, notifying the supervisor of any shortages or items that need to be replenished.
- Clean and maintain all areas of the kitchen.
- Adhere to proper food handling and sanitation standards to ensure the safety and well-being of customers and colleagues.
- Assist in training new kitchen staff and provide guidance and support as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a positive work environment and effective communication between front-of-house and back-of-house staff.
Qualifications
- A valid food handler's certificate or relevant certification.
- Proven experience as a dishwasher/prep cook, preferably in a high-paced setting.
- Knowledge of various cooking techniques and methods.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50lb.
- Ability to work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment
