Just for Kids is a community-centered non-profit organization that offers before and after school and summer programming in the Amherst, Cheektowaga Central, Cheektowaga Sloan, Cleveland Hill (Cheektowaga), Grand Island, Sweet Home, and Williamsville Central School Districts. We also offer programming at The Park School of Buffalo, Saints Peter and Paul School in Hamburg, St. Benedict School in Amherst, St. Mary's School in Swormville, and Nardin Academy in Buffalo. 


Position Summary

The Family Welcome Specialist is responsible for cheerfully greeting guardians and signing out children in accordance with the Just for Kids protocol. The Family Welcome Specialist ensures that the child(ren) are only released to adults on the approved pick-up list (verified through guardian IDs and child’s profile).

  • Communicate parent arrival to the corresponding staff member.
  • Daily communication with participating families – program updates, events, and “need to know” information. 
  • Help to maintain a positive work climate.
  • Ensure children are escorted to their guardians in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Check guardian’s ID alongside the child’s approved pick-up list confirming the guardian is approved to pick up the child. 
  • Develop proficiency with the Just for Kids attendance software. 
  • Maintenance of accurate record keeping (i.e. attendance records); sign out the students. 
  • Provide direct competent supervision of children at all times, while escorting children to guardian.
  • Step into ratio as needed; performing Team Leader duties and responsibilities as needed while continuously greeting parents. 

Schedule

Monday through Friday 2:30pm/3:00pm-5:00pm/5:30pm on days school is in session.

Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Before employees are eligible to start working, they must be cleared through NYS OCFS. This includes the completion of background checks and fingerprinting. 
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to multitask in an organized manner.
  • Ability to provide cheerful and supportive customer service to parents at pickup.  

 Physical Requirements: This position requires the transportation of students from various indoor/outdoor locations to meet their guardians at pickup. Physical ability to work around small children including, sitting, standing, running and climbing stairs. Must be able to lift, carry or move up to 10 pounds occasionally. This position also includes prolonged periods of standing and walking.  

Salary Description
$15.00/hour
