UHS, is a coeducational independent day school in San Francisco, California with 480 students in grades 9-12. Founded in 1975, the school’s mission is to challenge each individual to live a life of integrity, inquiry, and purpose larger than the self. UHS is located in the Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco.


Job Description:

UHS is currently seeking a dynamic and energetic Athletics Public Address Announcer. The main sports covered are basketball and volleyball.  While occasionally playoff games in soccer, lacrosse, baseball and softball could be added.  There are other events, like senior nights, and Big Red Friday’s that will also utilize a public address announcer.  All candidates will be asked to submit an audition clip, showcasing their clarity of speech, energy and enthusiasm. 


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

This staff member, reporting to the Director of Athletics, will join an athletics program that includes 23 varsity teams, most of which have sub-varsity levels. UHS Athletics strives to create professional-level events for home competitions which often include an announcer. Specific responsibilities include.

  1. Compliance with all UHS, BCL/BAC, NCS and CIF policies and procedures.
  2. Commitment to providing support, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.
  3. Creation of scripts and planning of music for competitions.
  4. Collaboration with athletics staff and coaches to create events that lead with sportsmanship and honor all athletes, fans, and officials.
  5. Attendance at required program and interscholastic athletics program meetings.
  6. Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes.

Salary:

This is a seasonal, part-time job.  $25/Hr.

Requirements


  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. College Degree in communications or similar subject manner
  3. Availability for competitions throughout the year with availability on evenings and weekends as required.
  4. Experience announcing at sporting events or similar events.
  5. Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives, interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks.
Salary Description
