House Leader in Training
Description

The House Leader In Training oversees functions critical to the success of the mission – construction with volunteers and the planning behind it.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Leading volunteers on build days

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and understanding house plans
  • Monitoring construction process on non-build days
  • Assisting with construction-related inventory monitoring
  • Serving as a liaison to the homebuyers during the construction process
  • Master the carpentry, roofing, finish, and volunteer management skills listed in the House Leader Qualifications document.
  • Complete all required routine (e.g., OSHA Fall Protection, CPR & First Aid, Volunteer Management) and special training.
  • Provide input to the Volunteer Skilled Supervisor (VSS) Training Matrix, including ideas for training additional VSS.
  • Attend weekly Construction Team meetings and all–staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support departmental & Atlanta Habitat for Humanity policies & procedures.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Atlanta Habitat, assisting volunteers and sponsors in obtaining any information they need to get involved on an ongoing basis.
  • Instruct & lead volunteers on-site.
  • Understanding Atlanta Habitat construction process
  • Current knowledge of residential construction techniques preferred.
  • Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong leadership skills
  • This position requires extensive driving around the City of Atlanta.
  • This position is subject to periodic DMV checks for driving record and valid driver’s license.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of professional experience required; preferably construction related.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds.
