We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join the BioAge team! 

Key responsibilities will be performing analyses to advance the drug pipeline for a small nimble biotech company with an innovative data-driven platform and pipeline of drugs in clinical development. Work will include pre-processing and analyzing human and animal data, including bulk and single-cell/nucleus RNA-seq, proteomics, and metabolomics. 

This role centers on building and validating mechanistic hypotheses around specific therapeutics, as well as prioritizing and evaluating new targets. The successful candidate, working closely with biologists, will be able to identify the best internal or external datasets to answer key biological questions, obtain data and perform analyses to address those questions, and articulate how the results impact the biological understanding, as well as which further data or analyses may or may not be helpful. 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Analyze complex, high-throughput omics data sets (including proteomics and transcriptomics) to identify potential therapeutic targets, select clinical indications, and elucidate underlying biological mechanisms
  • Design and execute hypothesis-driven exploratory analyses using appropriate machine learning algorithms to derive actionable insights that significantly impact strategic decisions for the ongoing programs and targeted therapeutic areas
  • Utilize public datasets effectively to supplement and support internal findings.
  • Integrate insights from preclinical and clinical data to explore new indications for established targets, linking them directly to therapeutic outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including biology, experimental, and clinical departments, to craft and refine translational strategies and analyze multifaceted multi-omics datasets.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate complex data insights to cross-functional teams, ensuring that scientific analyses are translated into strategic business outcomes.
  • Represent the organization at scientific conferences and through collaborations with academic and industry partners; contribute to the scientific community by publishing research findings in reputable journals.
  • Promote and enhance collaboration across various scientific teams within the company to foster innovation and problem-solving.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a closely related field, with at least 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in bioinformatics programming languages such as Python and R.
  • Extensive experience in the analysis and interpretation of omics data, with a proven track record of deriving biological insights from both internal and external datasets.required
  • Familiarity with both mouse and human data models is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of molecular biology fundamentals and familiarity with key bioinformatics resources including databases, algorithms, and analytical software.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing projects, with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information in an accessible and actionable manner.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and a capacity for innovation.

The salary for this role is expected to be in the range of $160,000 - $180,000 for someone who meets all of the minimum qualifications as listed for the role, and may be adjusted accordingly for someone with more or less experience in the role.
