What our team needs from you:

  • Be efficient with a curb mule on various types of curb.
  • Know A.D.A Regulations
  • Be able to adapt and be a team with other crew members      finishing styles.
  • Provide a consistent high quality product on a daily      basis.
  • Level, smooth and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straight edge, float or power screed.
  • Spread concrete to specified depth and workable consistency.
  • Level, smooth and shape concrete slabs to specified textures using hand or power tools.
  • Finish concrete surfaces using power trowel.
  • Assist team mates in daily activities outside of your title as finisher. (Hanging Boards, Shoveling Concrete, working shoot, communicate with concrete suppliers drivers and direct a concrete truck, assist with sub grade prep, maintain a clean work area.)
  • Remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder, chisel or hammer.
  • Place expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointer or straight edge.
  • Add material to concrete to produce required finish.
  • Attend training at HGC Academy. 
  • Utilize HGC’s core values in daily duties. 
  • Understand, interpret, and follow goals and directions from a foreman or superintendent.
  • Communicate professionally with everyone on site, including but not limited to supervisors, teammates, contractors, clients, and vendor partners.
  • Maintain attendance at work, including presence at work during regular work hours or another schedule as may be assigned by the foreman or superintendent. Acceptance of overtime assignments also may be required in order to operational needs.


Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform other various assignments as assigned.


Experience & Requirements

  • Laser screed experience a plus.
  • Saw cutting and joint layout experience preferred.
  • Must be able to walk on unlevel surfaces.
  • Walk-behind trowel machine and riding trowel machine experience a plus.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be highly motivated and willing to learn.
  • Must be able to understand project goals and direction.
  • Must enjoy working outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug, fit for duty physical, and background screening.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates and be a team player.
  • Must be willing to work Monday through Friday 7AM-5:30PM, or other schedule as may be assigned by the foreman or superintendent, as well as Saturdays when needed.


Essential Physical Demands of Work Environment, With or Without a Reasonable Accommodation

  • Able to walk through varied terrain.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.(unassisted) to 80 lbs. (assisted) on a regular basis.
  • Able to lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies.
  • Able to perform job responsibilities outdoors, in all types of weather conditions.
  • Able to maintain constant alertness and situational awareness while on the job site.
  • Able to climb on and off equipment safely while maintaining three (3) points of contact.
  • Able to use hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting and carrying of construction materials.
  • Able to stand/sit for extended periods of time, as well as stoop, kneel, walk, bend, crouch, lift, and crawl as required to perform essential duties.
  • Able to communicate audibly and visually while exposed to varying levels of noise, dust and substances commonly found on construction sites.
  • Any other physical demand the assigned duties require.

At HGC, we operate within a 65-mile radius of our offices in South Charlotte, North Carolina. By applying for this position, you acknowledge our operational radius and understand that your commute may extend one (1) hour or more. Our team members are expected to be flexible with job site locations as project requirements evolve, and occasional reporting to the HGC Academy for training may be necessary.
