Position Summary

To perform any/all chairside and dental assistant duties primarily in the Pedo Department but also assisting in any other department/area, as requested.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Efficiently assist in restorative, surgical, and nitrous oxide procedures when in the Pedo department, and in all procedures when assigned in other departments including set-up/break-down/disinfection of rooms, as needed.
  2. Maintenance of accurate logs for the water line cleaning/purging, changing traps and running solution thru the suction lines, as well as updating the Pedo Office Manual to ensure it is current.
  3. Proper utilization and upkeep of an inventory tag system to ensure the timely and accurate ordering of all instruments, materials and supplies for the Pedo dept.
  4. Monitor all units and equipment, requesting maintenance and/or repair, when needed, being sure to record all in appropriate logs for future reference (history of each unit) .
  5. Properly expose, scan and mount digital x-rays and accurately chart/document using the EHR.
  6. Compliance to all HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control guidelines.
  7. Assist in other departments including Dispensary and Radiology, as needed/requested.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Competent assisting in dental procedures utilizing four-handed technique.
  • Competent computer skills using a PC and EHR.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Current knowledge of dental terminology, dental instruments and materials.
  • Must have the ability to expose, process, and mount quality digital radiographs.
  • Must have experience with use and/or monitoring of nitrous oxide, papoose boards, etc…

Physical Requirements

Ability to move freely throughout the clinic and perform essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.


Licenses/Certifications

  • State of Michigan X-ray certification mandatory before hire.
  • Current certification in CPR/BLS or able to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • HIPAA and OSHA completion within 30 days of hire.

Salary/Pay Information

Commensurate with experience


Anticipated Schedule

Monday thru Thursday 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM and Fridays 8:00 AM – 12:00 OR Monday thru Friday 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
