Short’s Travel Management, a leading provider of NCAA Athletic travel for collegiate athletics, has a immediate opening for a Sales Outreach Specialist with our Sales Development department. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to generate leads for our Sales team.  We have a great team culture where we genuinely enjoy who we work with. What you can expect in this role:

This position is responsible for generating prospective sales leads and new client sales for Short’s Travel Management services – hotels and charter bus via outbound phone calls, emails, and social channels. This position will utilize networking and customer relationship skills to contact and qualify strategic prospects.  An individual in this position will be required to generate, develop, and qualify new leads for our sales organization, helping us drive growth and increase our market share. This role will be part of the sales and marketing department and report directly to the Senior Director of Sales.  The candidate placed in this position will possess the ability to function autonomously and be effective contributing in a team environment.  

Essential Functions:

  • Generates prospective client leads and actively cultivates leads into productive sales.
  • Weekly outreach to 40 customers per week.
  • Actively participates in growing Short’s name within the marketplace by selling and re-selling to new clients.
  • Contributes to new market development by sharing client feedback and by communicating observations of gaps in product offerings from competitors and in the marketplace.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of Short’s product offerings and new services.
  • Becomes well-networked and stays current with industry information through trade press and other venues.
  • Personalizes strategic messaging through email, social channels, and outbound phone calls to engage prospective clients.
  • Perform prospecting activities such as cold calls, networking events and conferences.
  • Utilizes Salesforce to manage and report on sales pipeline with meaningful insights to efficiently drive sales to close.
  • Shares best practices with colleagues, team members and others to improve the sales function and productivity.
  • Travels as required for sales calls, presentations, trade functions and team meetings.
  • We are a team at Short’s Travel Management and as such, you may be expected to assist in other departments or handle tasks outside of your typical position scope for the benefit of our clients or company. 



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a sales role; travel industry background a plus.
  • Collegiate Sports background a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excels at time management and prioritizing tasks
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills with attention to listening and details.
  • Displays a positive attitude with energy and enthusiasm and a willingness to share ideas.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must utilize CRM tool for all outreach.
  • Ability to travel required (5-10%).

Technical Skills: 

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Task Manager and E-Mail).
  • Salesforce or other CRM experience
  • Working knowledge of telecommunication devices and network capabilities (voicemail, ACD systems, etc.).
