Job Summary:

Plant Prefab is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our growing team. The Senior estimator will be responsible for developing accurate time and cost construction estimates for Type V residential construction. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience reviewing construction plans, identifying specifications, and communicating with A&E design professionals, general contractors, and construction trades. This role will be located at our Tejon Ranch, CA manufacturing facility and will report to the Director of Estimating. 


Core Responsibilities:

  • Review plans and specifications to determine scope of work and identify potential information gaps.
  • Issue and manage RFI response and escalation process.
  • Develop full-scope estimates based on schematic, design development and construction documents. 
  • Prepare estimates for cost and project durations and identify critical path items and long lead time items to ensure project success. 
  • Manage pre-bid submission and qualification information and ensure bid deadlines are met. 
  • Prepare detailed QTOs (quantity take offs) by trade as required. 
  • Develop contingency and risk management plans for items that can impact time and schedules.
  • Issue and manage RFQs to approved vendors and trades and analyze data to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Provide timely and concise project status reports.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand project goals and develop competitive estimates.
  • Plan and assess takeoff workload and clearly communicate requirements.
Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience developing construction documents for projects of various sizes.
  • Experience and knowledge using estimating and construction management software.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of relevant construction codes.
  • Able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
