A Business Development Team Member is responsible for overseeing leads and prospective customers for Great Lakes and its subsidiaries. Business Development will develop and execute strategies with our existing customers in tandem with Account Executives to whom they will also act in a teamwork capacity. In addition, they will assist in special sales projects opportunities, manage part churn and any sales administrative responsibilities assigned.

Essential Functions:
- Sales:
- Grow top line revenue and profits for all Great Lakes prospective customers and assist with growth of existing strategic customers through the achievement of critical drivers, adhering to GLI’s plan-2-win.
- Develop and execute on strategy with existing strategic customers
- Develop presentations, satisfy RFQs, and generate quotations in efforts to push business opportunities through the pipeline to close as it relates to prospective customers and special projects
- Engineering & Administration
- Maintain accurate customer files including quotations, Activity logs in CRM, engineering prints, supplier quotations and any communications as it is relevant to satisfy customers requirements for parts and services.
- Assist with the tracking of New Business Awards and Churn
- Assist with the management of pricing files, quotations, forecasts, account coverage
- Team Building
- Act as team player for the Account Executive team members
- Encourages, communicates, and guides team to effective solutions, generating both ownership and comradery
- Takes part in assigned committees and special projects as a leader and individual contributor
Competencies:
The Business Development Team Member is a major character in the organization. In short, sales are the “backbone” of a sales organization. This position requires that one have the sales acumen and be responsible to perform all selling, selling strategy, and account development with limited supervision and support. Inherent knowledge of sales strategy, process and approach are key to this function.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Technical / Engineering discipline with a minimum of 5 years of related technical experience
Computer Skills: Excellent PC computer skills – MS Word, Office, and advanced skills in Excel
Other Requirements: He/she must participate in mandated company emergency procedures such as fire evacuation procedures and active shooter procedures. They will also comply with company building and parking procedures.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in the office. Work is performed in an office setting at a desk in an open area. The noise level is generally quiet with occasional moments of louder activity. Work may also be performed in the warehouse, helping to assist with activities needed in that area. Work is to be performed normally during company’s operating hours of 7:30am – 4:00pm CST Monday through Friday. There are few exceptions of work needed to be done remotely.
