Containment Lab Maintenance Technician

Texas Biomed is searching for a Biocontainment Lab Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, upkeep and preventive maintenance of the containment laboratories mechanical systems. 


The Role

· Provides first line of response to facility maintenance needs to assure maximum operational effectiveness of the facility

· Responsible for biological safety cabinets, chemical fume hoods and autoclaves including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of containment lab mechanical support systems

· Coordinates with EHS to implement and monitor compliance to occupational safety requirements by OSHA and other regulatory agencies

· Maintains records for facility compliance with all applicable authorities including, local, state, federal and all other regulatory codes pertaining to all components of the facility maintenance systems. 

· Performs daily checks of all mechanical systems using standardized checklist(s). Informs appropriate supervisory or managerial personnel of unusual conditions, problems or deficiencies and takes appropriate action.

· Assists in planning of annual maintenance/ re-certification of containment labs.

· Will be trained to enter the ABSL4, BSL4, ABSL3, BSL3, ABSL2, and BSL2 laboratories


Our Ideal Candidate: 

· Associate’s Degree in a related field of study, Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering technology or related field preferred

· 3 years of job related experience in at least one of these crafts:  Plumbing, Mechanical, HVAC, Structural, Instrumentation/Electronics, Refrigeration, Electronics/Fire Alarms, biological safety cabinets, chemical fume hoods and sterilizers 

· Ability to be NSF certified
