Through safety-net services and asset building solutions, Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) creates economic mobility opportunities for tens of thousands of people annually through programs such as energy assistance, early education and care, financial empowerment, positive youth development, and career pathways. WCAC serves 45 towns in Central and South-Central Massachusetts with offices located in Worcester, Southbridge, Webster, East Brookfield, and Leicester. We are a team of 145 employees and an annual budget of approximately $30 million. Position Summary:

WCAC’s Job & Education Center (JEC) offers alternative individualized education pathways for young people outside the traditional school environment, with the intention of instilling values of lifelong learners and providing career pathway exploration, connections to post-secondary and certificate training programs leading to employment opportunities.  We are seeking a Job & Education Center Director to create, steer, and manage the JEC’s future as a leader in youth development including helping to reimagine, develop and implement a holistic model of workforce, education and positive youth development that will provide multiple opportunities for youth to access employment, post-secondary pathways, and experience equitable access to services that will help them succeed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, Master’s preferred.    
  • 5 years’ experience administering state and federally funded Human Service Programs in a non-profit or municipality. 
  • Knowledge of best practices in workforce development, education, and youth development programming.  
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working within community organizations and/or youth development. 
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic planning, administration, leadership, or supervision responsibilities required. 
  • Embrace a philosophy of advancing racial and wealth equity to support equitable access to programs and services to measure impact and achieve economic self-sufficiency for participants.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn Agency software and databases. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.  
  • Self-directed, ability to work independently under general guidance.  
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Attend Board of Director Meetings, as needed. 
  • Must be reachable after hours for emergencies.
