Description

NexGen Data Systems is seeking an experienced Project Manager (PM) to support multiple data center projects. These projects range from application development, new capability integration, and rationalization of duplicative capabilities. The purpose of this role is to support the Project Management teams in managing their work tasking, overall planning, requirements, stakeholder expectations, and ensure all stakeholders are appropriately engaged to ensure successful execution of work. This person should be highly motivated to assist teams to remove impediments and contribute to the team’s success. Candidates should have knowledge in execution of multiple types of PM methodologies (Waterfall, scrum, kanban, etc.).


Roles and Responsibilities:

· Work as an integral part of the Service Delivery (SD) Integrated Project Team (IPT) to manage projects. This includes: 

  • Leading Agile ceremonies (E.g.: Sprint Planning, backlog grooming, Daily Stand-ups). This includes making sure the team has achievable Sprint goals that align with the IPT Roadmap and ensure work is managed and organized appropriately in the project management software (E.g.: Jira) so that work progress can be measured and reported routinely.
  • Proactively engage with stakeholders as often as needed to appropriately manage the backlog and ensure work is being executed in accordance with the IPT Roadmap. This includes engaging with the Product Owner and Project Team to manage and prioritize the backlog.
  • Develop project schedules and provide input into the IPT Roadmap.
  • Engage in risk management by identifying, assessing, strategizing, tracking, and reporting project risks, issues, and opportunities in accordance with the DC2HS Risk Management Program. Track and report risks, escalate as required, and track in the Risk Management tool.
  • Engage in change management by tracking baseline changes and requests for change (RFC). This includes tracking the lifecycle of an RFC and ensuring baseline changes are properly incorporated into project schedules, Sprint goals, and backlog.
  • Independently work with technical teams and stakeholders to define requirements and develop execution plans.
  • Execute with a natural sense of urgency to continue driving the success of assigned projects.
  • Ensure technical teams operate with a sense of urgency. This includes assisting teams in resolving impediments and/or issues affecting project performance.
  • Independently drive execution and identification of work with the technical teams.
  • Develop professional status reports that communicate clear/detailed project status to stakeholders. 

· Support the Program Management Office in the oversight and management of division-wide project management initiatives, development and/or review of policies, procedures, and guidance documents. 

· Support PMO training initiatives (E.g.: Jira training, Risk Management training, etc.).

Requirements
  • Experience developing Project Schedules using MS Project.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a multi-functional team environment (team player).
  • Ability to collaborate with awareness and responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Commitment to continuous development and improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • A strong sense of urgency including self-governance on task priority.
  • A strong drive for execution, completion, and problem solving. 

Education and Certs:

  • One or more of the following Certifications (or commensurate): PMP, PMI-RMP, ITIL- M_o_R, Certified Scrum Master
  • BS degree in Engineering, Information Systems Technology or Management and Ten (10) years of direct work experience, to include: oversight/management of design/development, production, installation, and test & evaluation in information systems technology.
  • Or 15+ years of project management experience supporting DoD Information Systems Technology projects.
