Supervisor: Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer


Job Summary and Responsibilities:

The Physician Director of Pediatrics (DoP) is responsible for clinical oversight of pediatric medical services at High Country Community Health. The DoP will be a split position with approximately three days per week spent on direct patient care (can be based in Watauga or Surry county) and two days per week on administrative responsibilities. The DoP will

supervise the other providers who practice pediatric care, and will be responsible for creating policies and procedures that best serve pediatric patients at all HCCH sites. The DoP will keep up to date on evidence based guidelines in pediatrics, will teach other

providers and clinical staff about these policies, and will ensure that the clinical staff in pediatrics is practicing evidence based medicine. The DoP will work with the Clinical Director, the Director of Quality Improvement, and CMO in ensuring that

pediatric care at HCCH meets all evidence-based quality standards. The DoP will help to supervise the pediatric vaccine program, and ensure that families of children who get care at HCCH are given accurate and appropriate information about vaccinations and are urged to stick to recommended vaccination schedules. The DoP will help to network with subspecialty providers in pediatrics to ensure that HCCH pediatric patients can access subspecialty care as needed.

  • Creation of policies and procedures related to pediatric medical care at HCCH
  • Facilitating regular meetings with the pediatric providers and pediatric clinical leadership
  • Guiding growth and expansion of pediatric services at HCCH
  • Regular review of quality metrics related to pediatric medical care at HCCH
  • Provision of primary care and urgent care for a panel of pediatric patients at HCCH
  • Examination and treatment of patients in the office
  • Referral of patients for specialist services, as needed
  • Assistance with triage of pediatric patients
  • Maintenance of electronic medical records
  • Development of cooperative arrangements with other pediatric health providers and subspecialist
  • Participation in community outreach events related to pediatrics
  • Promotion of goodwill and a positive work environment between HCCH employees
  • Maintainance of respectful and open dialogue with HCCH leadership
Requirements


  • MD or DO degree
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in pediatrics
  • Board certification in Pediatrics
  • At least three years post-residency experience in pediatrics
  • Prior experience working with an electronic medical record system. Proficiency in
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and creating dashboards. Previous experience with policy development and implementation. Previous experience with primary medical care.
Salary Description
$175k - $190k
