GENERAL DESCRIPTION – PURPOSE OF ROLE:


The Outside Sales Representative is the primary contact for customers and as such must have a strong desire to exceed customer expectations, while maximizing company objectives. This position requires charisma and requires the candidate to have a sociable and outgoing personality. Experience in Sales and Business-to-Business Customer Service is desired with the minimum of a 4-year college degree. Experience in the manufacturing environment is a plus.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Engage with existing customers and cultivate strong business relationships.
  • On-board new customers and confidently engage with potential new business opportunities.
  • Provide assigned accounts with quotes and proposals.
  • Execute the sales-order process (order entry, order confirmation/acknowledgment, order modifications, shipping documentation, returns management/claims, etc.)
  • Gather market intelligence that can be used to develop accurate pricing strategies.
  • Own business development activities to develop new markets and diversify customer base.
  • Build a sales funnel of future growth opportunities that aligns with the gross margin targets of the organization.
  • Effectively use tools to communicate via phone, email, Teams (or similar technology) and in person.
  • Answer inquiries from customers related to company products, services, lead-times, open order status, tracking information, etc.
  • Oversee and ensure delivery of products is facilitated.
  • Generate open orders/recent shipment for customers.
  • Support finance team with account receivable activities (reconciliation, credits, unpaid invoices, etc.).
  • Proactively reach out to customers to resolve issues.
  • Work with internal team to resolve issues (customer satisfaction, quality issues, on-time delivery, billing discrepancies, etc.)
  • Become familiar with industries and customers served to build market intelligence.
  • Learn the internal manufacturing operations of the company to speak confidently about those processes to existing and new customers.
  • Play a fundamental role in helping us achieve our ambitious revenue growth objectives.
  • Can use past and present information (internal and external) to prepare an annual sales forecast, then pursue and achieve the forecast, documenting any obstacles along the way.
  • Must learn and navigate each customer’s on-line portal to ensure important information flows timely between the customer and Forge. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team, offer and accept constructive feedback.
  • Ability to use automated information systems to analyze customer situations.
  • Skilled with a wide variety of computer software applications, including MS Office Suite (esp. Excel and PowerPoint), Adobe pdf, various MRP software, and others.
  • Proficiency with computers in general. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several activities / projects at once, to organize / prioritize work, and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to drive results, metrics, and key performance indicators.
  • Data driven decision maker.
  • Other sales responsibilities as required.


PREFERRED SKILLS, COMPTENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) or more years in a sales position with manufacturing experience.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Management, Business Administration, or similar field.
