Bindery Helper
Description

SUMMARY
Performs the set-up, running and maintenance of miscellaneous Bindery machinery, and assists Bindery Machine Operators in the operation of assigned equipment by feeding, taking off or packing finished product.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Does hand collating and other manual tasks in Bindery.
  • Catches completed signatures or printed pieces at delivery end of binding equipment.
  • Assists in cutting, folding, collating, stitching and binding of jobs.
  • Sets up and operates punches.
  • Sets up and operates spiral, sire-O and plastic binder.
  • Sets up and operates perforating and/or scoring machine.
  • Sets up and operates strip or pattern gluer.
  • Performs padding procedures.
  • Does eyeleting.
  • Operates power drill.
  • Does round cornering.
  • Does laminating.
  • Sets up and operates tab cutter.
  • Cleans up and keeps work area neat and orderly.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to read and understand written instructions including those dealing with dimensions and quantity. 
  • Ability to apply written instructions to machine set-up.  
  • Knowledge of stitchers and binding operations is a plus.  
  • Knowledge of the operation and function of the other bindery equipment and machinery is a plus.  
  • Good manual dexterity necessary. 
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
