Description

REI began in Laos in 2007 with short-term teams who did trainings in Executive Leadership and Management, medical topics and workshops, and English for 2-6 weeks at Mittaphab (“Friendship”) Hospital. In late 2008, the Munsons arrived to teach ESL at Mittaphab Hospital. At one time, the team grew to 13 adults and 12 children, which included ESL teachers, a surgeon, family practice doctors, nurses, a social worker, a business entrepreneur, and homeschooling parents. There were also two summer short-term teams in 2008-2010, 2013, and 2015 and three interns each here for 6-9 months between 2016 and 2019.

• Teaching English to medical staff at two government hospitals, in various departments 
• Assisting Lao English teachers at the medical university to interview incoming freshmen as well as co-teaching English classes with them
